10,000 page views
Sometime in the last week the number of page views recorded by my stats program clicked over the 10,000 mark – not bad for just under three months (since the tracker was installed).
Around a third of those hits are to my RSS feed, and since nobody in particular is showing up highly in the referrer list I guess quite a few individuals must be subscribed, which is gratifying.
Aside from that, the bulk of traffic has been generated by three particular posts:
1. My problems with an XP reinstall, which ranks very highly in Google and other search engines and attracts the bulk of search traffic
2. The hacks I made to Shortstat – again this page ranks highly for searches, plus it is linked from Shaun Inman’s site and a few other places
3. My replies to points raised during a discussion at Asterisk – no search visibility, but several links from “a high profile site”http://www.dkeithrobinson.com/asterisk/ combined with a contentious viewpoint makes for decent traffic
All of which combines to prove the point of the several high-profile bloggers who have recently offered tips on how to run a successful blog – optimise your posts if you want them to be found (1), offer something back to the community (2), and be controversial (3).
