Close-up of iPod clickwheel

Apart from the testing Mac Mini at work I have remained resolutely Apple-free to date, but I have now taken my first step on the road to Mac-geekhood with the purchase of an iPod Shuffle.

Given my previous experiences, I’m a bit worried about the fact that the box says it requires Windows XP with Service Pack 2; I’ve backed up everything important, and I’ll see if the software will install without SP2 first, but fingers crossed it won’t screw up my laptop as badly as last time!

See you on the other side…

Buying an iPod was my first taste of the fruit. Be warned though, a couple months after this I found myself a couple grand poorer and a stonking great 17” Powerbook on my desk!

Has to be said though, despite it being an awful lot of money, it was worth every penny. I just site at my desk starring at it smiling in content.

I’ll give it a few months and then we will be seeing you posting up a fancy picture of some new Apple computer/laptop. It’s like a drug.

Heh – I don’t think so; even if I wanted to I couldn’t afford a new computer right now, ultra-desirable Appleyness or not…

Don’t do it Matt, never buy an Apple, remember Snow White?

I’ve had three mac’s in the past and have always come back to the PC. I have however just purchased an iMac for £50, just so I can test my site’s for the geeks.

Reason why I prefer the PC over the Mac, is just the fact that it is more supported over here. I used a Mac and a PC at my last place and the only thing that was different in terms of software was the shortcuts. Oh yeah and if you spend over a grand you don’t always get a monitor, what’s that all about.

Anyway I feel better now. Happy shuffling!

The shuffle has worked pretty flawlessly for me. I have a few problems with transfering and a few things, but nonetheless it’s pretty nice.

Oh, I was the winner of one of Mike Davidson’s contests.

Congrats, Glen – which one was it?

I’m still waiting for CSS Beauty to launch their Shuffle contest (to win an iPod Nano, strangely) – more up my street than Mike D’s contests… ;)

It was this one.

It was kind of a gimmick in that you only had to submit a site, but I’m not complaining. I was supposed to get some headphones too, but unfortunately haven’t gotten them yet. Mike told me it was because of a lost email and I should be getting them soon.

Nice one Matt.

I love my Nano, my brother in law has a shuffle and it’s on an old(ish) laptop which only has SP1. Seems to work fine.

By that I mean he hasnt complained to me about it and he uses it every couple of days in the gym.

Mine seems to be having no trouble on a Service Pack-less XP- although filtering out my daughters’ CD collections does take some time… ;)

Have fun with your iPod! I’m absolutely adoring my 30gb Photo. It’s with me everywhere I go _

As is my Powerbook G4, btw. I’ve had it for 2 months now, and I haven’t really touched my PC ever since. Windows has just become intolerable for me, now that I’ve discovered the bliss of Mac software and beauty.

And like Daniel (#1), I sometimes just sit and stare at my PB contently. It makes me absolutely happy – an extraordinary feat in a piece of machinery.

Worth every penny. But yes, when you just don’t have the penny, it’s hard getting one. Save up, my man, save up ;)
