I've got some good news, and some bad news...
In a yin-yang burst of financial synchronicity, last week I landed a fairly large freelance contract – and the very next day our boiler broke down. The cost of a new boiler? Almost bang on the amount I quoted for the freelance work.
Bugger.
In other news, an excellent post by Jonathan Hollin over at Urban Mainframe entitled ‘What Makes A Great Weblog?’ is making me feel guilty about the lack of actual knowledge on display here. When I finally started writing for this site, I had grand plans to share various CSS tips and tricks with the world – in fact there’s a half-finished Tables-to-CSS conversion series in draft format knocking around somewhere – but over time I’ve found myself less and less inclined to spend the time writing and formatting that kind of article.
The danger in this, as Derek Featherstone recently pointed out in ‘Growing Up With Web Standards’, is that if nobody can be bothered to write about standards and the like, then people will still be doing things the wrong way. So, regardless of the obscurity of the site, any contribution I can make is a good thing.

I’ll have to agree—any contribution that improves the quality search engine results for those looking at learning how to do things is a good thing in my books! We need to systematically remove crappy resources from the top 10 results for certain searches… Here’s to a cleaner, purer web! - #3
I would like to point out that the article has caused just a little bit of controversy. I would urge your readers, if they read “What Makes a Great Weblog?”, to also read the comments associated with the article, since I’ve (hopefully) clarified a few things there!
Again, thanks for the link.
