If I only had a brain
I just spent half a day fiddling with an online survey form which wasn’t collecting any data. The problem was that it was a pop-up that used cookies and random visitor numbers to decide whether or not to appear, so testing it was a pain. Compounding this problem was the fact that it lived on both the intranet and the live site, but only had to work on live, so there was additional Javascript in there to prevent it showing up for our staff – problem was that I didn’t know which bit of Javascript was causing it to not work at all.
So anyway, after half a day’s work, deleting, recoding, uploading, testing, I eventually discovered the error – I had mistyped the URL of the script source.
That knocking sound you can hear is my head being beaten against the desk…
